The 5000/6000 series cars were built between 1943 and 1960 by various Spanish and French companies to modernize the passenger car fleet after the Civil War. A total of approximately 790 units were built.
Conceived to form express trains, they were assigned to the most important trains of the era and, years later in the 1970s, were relegated to regional services until they were retired at the end of the 1980s.
Regarding our vehicles AA-6018, 6034, and 6037, they were built in 1951 by St. Denis in France. They were first-class vehicles with compartments for long-distance services. Although initially part of the express train fleet, they gradually began to serve less important routes, especially with the introduction of the new 8000 series cars in the mid-1960s. Towards the end of the 1980s, they were transformed into second-class salon cars and assigned to special commemorative trains, as the rest of the series was sold to Cuba or scrapped. They provided numerous services and were eventually assigned to the Vilanova i la Geltrú Railway Museum, where they served until 2010, when they were moved to the Barcelona Can Tunis railway workshops. In 2016, the Móra la Nova museum obtained their transfer from the Spanish Railways Foundation, and in 2017, they were moved from Barcelona to the Móra la Nova Railway Museum.
