This is the low-sided wagon built by Nicaise and Delcuve in 1881 with number G-522 for the Aranjuez to Cuenca railway company. It was part of the series of wagons G 509 to 588 that went to the MZA company, which used them for services throughout its network. Out of the 79 wagons, only 8 reached RENFE in 1940, as the lack of any type of brake limited their use.
The MZA G-522 was set aside at the La Meta flour mill in Lleida in the mid-1950s, where it was abandoned. It wasn't until the AVE (high-speed rail) works in the city of Lleida uncovered it that an entity from Lleida wanted to preserve it. The wagon was removed and kept until 2021, when it was donated to the railway museum in Móra la Nova.
In 2022, it underwent a comprehensive operational restoration that included the construction of several missing elements. Today, it is the oldest surviving railway carriage in Catalonia, making it a piece of high heritage value.
