The 5000/6000 series cars were built between 1943 and 1960 by various Spanish and French companies to modernize the passenger car fleet after the Civil War. A total of approximately 790 units were built.
Designed to form express trains, they were assigned to the most important trains of the era and, years later in the 1970s, were relegated to regional services until they were retired in the late 1980s.
The ones known as "Cubans" are a total of five cars, which were purchased by the Cuban government. They were refurbished in the early 90s, equipping them with Alliance couplings, a completely new interior, and air conditioning units for the compartments. These cars, which despite the extensive refurbishment they underwent never made it onto a ship, were preserved and are now restored in the museum.
In 2020, the Móra la Nova museum obtained its cession from the Spanish Railways Foundation and they were transferred from Canfranc to the Móra la Nova Railway Museum.
