It is part of a series of two cars (L.44-45) acquired in 1930 for the Ribes–Núria line, then under construction, by Ferrocarriles de Montaña a Grandes Pendientes S.A. (FMGP). They were built in Sallent by Construcciones Metálicas del Llobregat and delivered in January 1930. Originally, they were of the low-sided type and were used both to transport goods from the sanctuary and to carry luggage and skis attached to passenger trains. In 1957, the L-43 car, built in 1892 by the Societé Industrielle Suisse (SIG) for the FMGP to serve the Montserrat rack railway, was added to the series. It was transferred to Nuria after the Montserrat rack railway closed, the fact that it only has a parking brake meant that it was only used on work trains.
After the company's ownership was transferred to the Generalitat de Catalunya, wagons L44 and L45 were rebuilt in 1984. Finally, the withdrawal and subsequent conversion of some passenger cars into higher-capacity platforms led to their retirement from service, and today they are preserved and used sporadically.
The L-44 car has been rebuilt in Mora la Nova and is currently on display at the Cement Train exhibition in La Pobla de Lillet.
