Electric locomotive – FGV T10

In 1924, the Compañía de Tranvías y Ferrocarriles de Valencia acquired three 2-axle RLCA type gasoline tractors from the French factory Establissements Berliet in Venissieux, Lyon. These were intended for the Vilanova de Castelló to La Pobla Llarga line, which until then had been operated with steam traction. In 1931, when this line closed, the vehicles were transferred to the Valencia to Castelló de la Ribera line, where they were used for shunting and V&O work.

After the Civil War, they were re-engined with more powerful diesel engines, but between 1946 and 1947, as the Vilanova de Castelló line was electrified, it was decided to electrify them. Various elements were utilized, including frames, axles, shock and traction components, and the driving cab. The cab was moved to the center of the vehicle, and they were equipped with two GE-58 electric motors and a controller from the trams that operated on the Valencia network, also owned by the same company. For power intake, they were fitted with a lira-type pantograph. With the central cab and the two hoods at each end, this rolling stock had an appearance similar to «boîte-à-sel» locomotives. The first unit transformed was T-10, which began operating in 1946, and subsequently, the other two tractors were modified, forming the T-10 to T-12 series. They continued to provide auxiliary services on the Southern Valencia line, although over the years, they were randomly switched between the two lines: Vilanova de Castelló and Pont de Fusta.

The T10 ceased operation in April 1987 and was located at the Valencia-Sud station until it was preserved in the Torrent depot, along with the material that makes up the tram and future museum train collection. In 2024, FGV commissioned its static restoration at the Móra la Nova Museum, and it is currently preserved at the Torrent facilities.
